Dr Alex Lapenga
Dr Alex Lapenga is a registered medical practitioner registered with the Medical Board of Australia. Dr Lapenga has been working in Cairns and the Tablelands for the past 10 years.
Dr Lapenga is an associate lecturer with the University of Queensland and regularly supervises medical students under the John Flynn Programme. The John Flynn program is a merit-based scholarship that amongst other things, provides medical students with the opportunity to observe medical practice in rural and regional areas.
Dr Lapenga is a certified Sclerotherapist and has completed training and examinations conducted by the Australasian College of Phlebology. The Australasian College of Phlebology trains specialists to become fully qualified to treat spider veins and varicose veins.
Over 30% of the population is affected by varicose veins or complications of venous disease.
Dr Lapenga is currently a lead researcher for an ongoing study looking at vein disease.
Dr Lapenga also holds a Laser License administered by the Queensland Government and is able to consult on a variety of skin conditions that require laser treatment.
